The book “A Brave New World”, is very interesting and unique. It’s probably the most unique book I’ve ever read. The caste system was a very big part of the book. In today’s world, India has a caste, but it is very different from the book. A brave new world explains the negativeness of a world that everyone appears to be satisfied. It also explains the negative side of technology and what it can do to an entire world. Overall, I really liked this book. It did surprise me that at the beginning I read that babies are born so different than today’s world.

Today’s society is different from A Brave New World’s society in many ways. Not everybody in our society is satisfied. You can’t make a whole world happy, like that. In today’s society, it’s based off of individuals helping one another, to get to a shared benefit. In our society, people work together regardless of the race, the size or profession. Our society is based off of the shared relationships we create with one another.

In A Brave New World , there are lessons/morals. With all of this technology to improve life, they cannot forget what makes a human actually human. Their morals are quiet different from ours today. In their society, people get used to reality and they build their habits and norms into morals. In this book, I learned that societies can become dysfunctional. The book was based off of how the characters interact with each other in such a society like that. I learned that I wouldn’t want to live in a society like they had in the book.

What I learned from this project is that there’s a lot of satire in the daily life (if you love entertainment). The Parody satire is most likely the most popular one just because of all of the shows and YouTube videos. There are a lot of satires. For an example, the parody satire, the exaggeration satire, Horatian satire, juvenalian satire, incongruity satire, and reversal satire.

One of the satire example and video is the reversal satire. The reversal satire is basically reversing anything that would be normal into things that you wouldn’t expect. The video I watched was a Spongebob Squarepants episode where Spongebob and Patrick switch skins. This is reversal satire because usually, Spongebob has yellow skin and Patrick has pink. But they switched so that Spongebob has pink skin and Patrick has yellow skin. My group made up something kind of like thumbs up in a way because we had parody. And that activity didn’t happen because of the Coronavirus.

In the movie Hamlet, at a point Hamlet became depressed because of a series of reasons. Most of it was because his mother remarried after his father died. In the Lion King, Simba was depressed for some time because his father died. In both of these stories both characters father’s die. And they are both depressed over family-related situations. What was different was Simba got over his dad dying or at least didn’t show it , but Hamlet was upset for a long time. Another similarity is that Simba doesn’t like his uncle Mufasa and Hamlet doesn’t like his uncle either. They both wanted bad things to happen to them and they both fought some way with their uncles.

What surprised me is how similar these two stories are. Obviously there are a few different things, but overall there’s a lot of similarities. I never realized that Simba and Hamlet were almost the same. And in the Lion King, I couldn’t really tell if Simba was over his sadness of his father dying, but now that I see the stories side by side I realize it now. One thing that I also realized is that Hamlet is a play and the Lion King is a movie. But Hamlet was a more stronger story than the Lion King. Even though Hamlet was only a play.

I agreed with my result that I got. I agreed because mine was an adventurer. I do like to explore and all, but also the result said I was an introvert and that is all the way true. I do not like to be around people and I am extremely shy. But also I can open up and that includes me being adventurous. The results kind of shocked me a little bit. I agree with it, but I didn’t know that the quiz knew so much about adventurous people. What fit in this quiz was that it said I was an introvert which is 100% accurate.

What didn’t fit was the little things that the results said. For instance, an adventure goes to a lot of places. There’s certain places that I do not go or would not like to go. For example, the jungle. Or even the forest or a waterfall. Going places aren’t for everyone, but I understand why the results were like that. That’s what adventurous people do for a hobby.

Hamlet is a very deep and twisty story. Hamlet goes mad over his mother being with someone new only a few months after her husband died. This set a toll on Hamlet and caused him to act out. Him acting out took a toll on literally everyone around him. Everything he did affected everyone. He caused a big fight that led to multiple deaths, and caused the one girl he loved to commit suicide. This story isn’t a happy ending but it is definitely worth the read.

A quote that relates to today would be “I must be cruel to be kind”. I picked this one because a lot of people today are very rude. Some may think that being rude is a way to be nice (if that makes sense). I liked this quote because it makes sense to me. In our society, there’s not really any ‘good people’ left. Everyone is so different now days.

A song that really reflects on Hamlet would be the song ‘you should see me in a crown’ by Billie Eilish. The song is about basically her running the town and everything being under her control. I picked this song because Hamlet was supposed to be the king. He was supposed to rule the town, but instead he ended up dead, and Fortinbra got that opportunity. The chorus says “if you think i’m pretty, you should see me in a crown” and that’s basically saying you think she is beautiful now, just wait until you see her under control. That is relatable to Hamlet because when he went “mad” people thought wow he’s crazy but he threw a you-don’t-even-know-yet vibe at them.

This would help me in the future for a future job. English is included in most things that you will encounter in life. Putting together this paper made me realize that I could do this. I could put together a perfect and formal paper. My paper looked professional and formal and very informational. This would help in the future for future papers I would have to do.

What I learned from my APA paper was that it can be challenging, but in the end it looks really good. The frustrating part was writing in clutter, getting all the information i needed , things like that. What was new to me was just making the paper perfect. Also writing in clutter was a big part of the paper. Making sure your layout is perfect was a good portion of work. Writing in this unit has taught me how to put together a good, informational, format paper.

Some new things that I learned from my APA research paper were interesting. One thing I learned is that being a leasing consultant can be stressful. There could be rude or impatient tenants. Another thing I learned was how business people dress. Obviously, people can’t just dress the way they want- it would be unprofessional. Last thing I learned is that some things take time, and you have to be very professional with the job and be really good at it.

I’m excited for the job shadow because I want to live the experience and I want to see how they work. I’m excited to ask questions to cure my curiosity about everything I want to know. I’m excited to dress up and go see what my dream job looks like. I would want to learn more about how to dress up and possibly type a little faster than how I type now. I’m excited to be in the job shadow to see what I’m getting myself into. My experience after I went was way better than I imagined it would be. Some things that were surprising was that the consultants keep the tenants mail in the office instead of their mailbox. I went on a tour, I seen a sheet that consultants fill out daily and I got to hear a few calls.

The Prologue starts out at the end of April. Therefore it’s spring time. Springtime is when people want to go on a pilgrimage. Which is when travelers from England make a quest to Canterbury Cathedral for help. The narrator is staying at a tavern while he is preparing for pilgrimage. The Prologue basically explains a pardner that sells pardons to people for their sins, but these people are kind of fooled by what the pardner is actually doing.

In the Prologue, it explains that a Pardner sells pardons to people for their sins. These people are fooled in reality and don’t exactly know it. The story starts out as seeing 3 drunken guys just drinking in the morning at like 9. Total troublemakers. This story is how the 3 brother’s friend gets killed. The brothers think that this thing called death is a person and they try to kill it. More towards the end of the story they try to turn against each other, but they find out that obviously death is a thing , not a person.

The Wife of Bath’s Tale is a story that explains what women want. This story is the most funny and humorous story in my opinion. In this story, a knight who isn’t really a good knight rapes a girl and gets sent to the court. The queen then sends the knight on a quest. The quest is to go out in the world and find out what women most desire. He has 12 months and a day to decide what women most want.

The movie Field of Dreams relates to the story Beowulf and their character traits. The main character in Field of Dreams (Ray) is a hero because he was very confident with finding what the voices told him to go out and find. In Beowulf, he was a hero and confident because he knew he could defeat Grendel. For Ray’s and Beowulf’s hamartia, they were both huberous (self-pride). They were both similar because they were both super confident in themselves and they didn’t give up.

The differences in the hamartia’s were that Ray’s self pride was to find what the voices wanted him to find. And in Beowulf he was just trying to defeat something that he knew he could do. The elements of a hero’s journey for Field of Dreams was Ray going out to find what the voice he heard wanted him to. Ray went on the journey alone and found what he needed. A hero’s journey for Beowulf was that he had to find his abyss which he had to do alone when he swims down to Grendel’s cave.

In angel-Saxon time period, there were elegies. Elegies are a poem or a mourning (the loss of someone or something). There are things connected to these elegies called dominant themes. There is a total of 4 of them. Male-dominant,clash of religion, warring nations, and fatalistic viewpoint.

The Angel-Saxon time period is also linked to modern time period. Music has a connection with today’s times and in the Angel-Saxon’s time period. Songs that are sad, depressing and have a ton of feelings are mournful. These songs have a fatalistic viewpoint as well as poems in the Angel-Saxon time period. I learned that hero’s have many of characteristics and they are full of faith. The most important thing that I will remember from this unit is that the sadness from the Angel-Saxon time period is also just like ours today.
