When I was in second grade, I failed that grade. My teacher reassured me and made sure I was okay. She made me open my eyes farther than I can even imagine. This teacher really changed my perspective. She made me feel as if I can try again and succeed not only for second grade, but for every grade. She was the reason I have not even thought about dropping out of school.
My second grade teacher, Mrs. Judy was the nicest woman on Earth. I remember when I used to cheat on worksheets to get a good grade. She caught me every time and told me to use my brain next time. I really did not know much then. Not nearly as much as I know now. My future matters to me most. I want to prepare myself for what is coming up for me. Mrs. Judy knew the answer to that. She made me realize, school is not a joke and it’s definitely not for fun. In order to graduate, it’s all about applying yourself, getting better than you want to be, knowing the basic things needed to know and trying hard.
I have been in school for 12 years. It’s not hard, but it’s not easy at all. There are struggles everyday. There were times when I thought “maybe this is pointless I’ll never pass”. Each time the thought passed my head, I realized I failed a grade and got back up on my feet and continued my education, because my education changed me forever.
Reflecting on my scholarship essay, I have learned a lot in just 12 years of school. My favorite teacher made me open my eyes to my education future. The hardest part of my essay was really putting it into words about how my teacher influenced me to do good. My future goal is to be an art teacher and succeed in that.
I feel like writing this essay was definitely needed. I needed to express how my opinion on school changed so rapidly. I feel like I needed this essay to show people how my experience was like. This essay was important to write and to be able to express how I felt with my experience.
